Only more than 30 days past after the execution of Ironman race agreements between Wanda Sports and Xiamen and Hefei respectively, have the schedules and tracks of the Ironman Triathlon races in those two cities been determined and the global enrollment will be launched on February 2, 2016.
It is informed that the events hosted in Xiamen and Hefei will be IRONMAN® 70.3®, a major brand among the Ironman series of race, which comprises 1.9km swimming + 90km biking +21.1km running. Both the events will become open for enrollment on February 2. Prior to that, the organizer will first invite clubs and point players to enroll.
As an important part of the Triathlon series, both the Xiamen and Hefei events will contribute 15 athletes to the Kona Ironman World Championship 2017 and 50 athletes to the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship 2017.
The Hefei Ironman Triathlon will debut first on October 16. Following several inspections of the tracks and water field by World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), the start point is finally placed at the Swan Lake, and the finish point is set at the Hefei Wanda Cultural and Tourism City. The route passes through Hefei Theater, Olympics Center, Emerald Lake, Anhui University, Hefei University of Technology, Anhui Hall of Fame, River Battle Memorial, National Lakefront Forest Park, Changling Ancient Town, Zhongmiao Ancient Town at Siding Mountain, Huanglu Ancient Town and Wanda Cultural and Tourism City.
The organizer at Hefei said that the track represents a combination of modern urban features with historical and cultural scenes, with the dreamlike scenery of lake and mountains alternating with vibrant gardens and fields. When they race along the wide lake ring, the Triathlon athletes from around the world will enjoy the view of expansive Chaohu Lake extending 400 kilometers, feeling the mystery around Klan Youchao, the legendary ancestor of mankind in remote antiquity.
The Xianmen Triathlon event will be held on November 13, starting from Xiamen International Conference Center and passing through major tourist attractions including Huli Mountain Port, Yanwu Bridge, Guanyin Mountain Sand Sculpture Park, Dream World Theme Park and Wutong Lighthouse Park.
The organizer at Xiamen said that sports are incorporated into the city’s cultural scenes through the race track, as the event presents a great opportunity for the world to have a more intimate contact with the dynamic modern city of Xiamen.
