Targeted Poverty Alleviation

Wanda Group donated 1.4 billion yuan to aid Danzhai County in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, to create the targeted property alleviation model of “one enterprise responsible for the overall poverty alleviation of a county”. The goal is to help all the impoverished people in the county get out of poverty through the construction of vocational colleges and tourism towns and the establishment of poverty alleviation funds for the benefits of the local farmers. Wanda Group won China’s first Poverty Alleviation and Innovation award issued by the State Council in 2016.


The Vocational Technical College, with an investment of 300 million yuan from Wanda Group, has a gross floor area of 50 thousand square meters and can accommodate 2000 students; the facilities of the college are of the first-class vocational college level, and the major setup of the college is specially designed for the needs of Danzhai. It's mainly for enrolling local students in Danzhai county. Wanda will recruit 50% of the graduates based on merit to work at Wanda every year.


The Tourism Town, built with a 600 million yuan investment from Wanda, has a gross floor area of 50 thousand square meters. It's built with the Miao village style, has been equipped with a four-star hotel, a multiplex cinema and children's entertainment facilities. The town features ethnic handicrafts, Miao food, Miao medicine and other items with Danzhai characteristics to create the one-stop Miao cultural experience.


The Wanda-Danzhai Special Poverty Alleviation Fund starts with 500 million yuan, with an annual guaranteed return of 50 million yuan. The investment income will be distributed to impoverished farmers in Danzhai county. In 2016, the average income of the people who received aids from the fund in Danzhai county exceeded the national poverty alleviation standard.
