Press conference for film The Great Wall held in Beijing

On December 6, The Great Wall held a press conference in Beijing, which was attended by director Zhang Yimou, together with the film's 12 leading actors including  Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal and Andy Lau. A taotie version of the film's poster and trailer were also released. After the press conference, director Zhang Yimou, also watched The Great Wall with ambassadors of various countries at the Beijing CBD Wanda Cinema.

The film is a joint production of China Film Group Corporation, Le Vision Pictures, Legendary Entertainment and Universal Studios, and will be released nationwide on December 16. The film will then be screened in many countries and regions around the world.

The Great Wall is a period drama about an elite troop that fought a heroic battle at the world famous Great Wall to protect humanity. The much anticipated film will be released by Le Vision Pictures, China Film Group Corporation, and Wuzhou Film Distribution during the new year holiday season. On December 16, the film will make its epic release in 3D, IMAX3D, CFGS3D (or DMAX), Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Auro formats.

Not only is the strong cast a major draw, the film's crew also hails from among the best in the world. Special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, which had previously worked on top visual effects hits such as World of Warcraft and Star Wars, had won 57 Oscars and Academy Award nominations. Weta Workshop designed the image of taotie as well as weapons and other props had garnered 10 Oscars and Academy Award nominations, and had participated in the creation of familiar works such as The Lord of the Rings and Avatar. The screenwriters, producers, cinematographer, artistic director, as well as various other leading crew members are also Oscar greats. Statistics show that the crew of The Great Wall have received 103 Oscar related awards as well as nominations, which is unprecedented in the history of Chinese films.
