Wang Jianlin attends UK-China Football Development Forum-vows to help English Premier League build football academies in China

The UK-China Football Development Forum in London on Friday September 18. Wang Jianlin attended the forum with a delegation led by Chinese vice premier Liu Yandong. Mr. Wang spoke at the event, expressing his desire to strengthen football cooperation between China and the UK.

Mr. Wang also pointed out that Wanda Group was the earliest company to invest in football in China and has continued to support its sustained development for many years. Wanda has promoted China’s football development in the past with the building of football academies and sponsorship of youth development and is willing to support the English FA and EPL in building football-training academies in China.

Football Association CEO Martin Glenn, English Premier League CEO Richard Scudamore and former England international Michael Owen attended the forum, providing constructive feedback on strengthening football cooperation between China and the UK.  Mr. Scudamore mentioned that the sport of football as well as it’s following, has been growing at a rapid speed in recent years and that its future is truly worth looking forward to.

After the forum, vice premier Liu helped kick off a charity game held by Tottenham Hotspur.
