Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis officially launched

Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin and other officials launch the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis project together.

A launching ceremony was held on September 22 for the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, a film and television industry project with the world's largest investment funded by a total investment of more than 50 billion yuan from the Wanda Group. Over 30 billion yuan of the total investment will be allocated to cultural tourism projects.

A number of officials, company executives and film stars attended the ceremony, including Tong Gang, deputy chief of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television; Li Qun, secretary of the Qingdao Party Committee; Zhang Xinqi, mayor of Qingdao; Wang Jianlin, chairman of Wanda Group; Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS); Hawk Koch, former president of AMPAS; Dawn Hudson, CEO of AMPAS; Li Qiankuan, chairman of China Film Association; the chairmen of the world's top four entertainment talent agencies CAA, WME, UTA and ICM; the chairmen or presidents of Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate Films, and The Weinstein Company; world famous movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christoph Waltz, Kate Beckinsale, and Ewan McGregor; and famous Chinese movie stars Zhang Ziyi, Jet Li, Tony Leung, Donnie Yen, Zhao Wei and Huang Xiaoming.

World's Most Versatile Film and Television Industrial Park

Located in the western part of Qingdao City, Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis is a large comprehensive cultural industry project that has film and television as its core industries and covers tourist, commercial and other functions. Occupying an area of 3.76 million square meters and a total construction area of 5.4 million square meters, Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis incorporates a film and television industrial park, a film museum, a film and television celebrity wax museum, a film exhibition center, car limit show, Wanda Cultural Tourism City, resort hotels, a yacht club, a seaside bar street, an international hospital and other projects. It is the world's only super large film and television industrial park that combines comprehensive film and television shooting, film and television production, film and television exhibition, and film and television tourism functions. Its first phase is expected to open for business in June 2016 and the entire project will become operational in June 2017.

Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis will boast multiple scenic designs such as the European Continent, ancient Chinese capital in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the Arab world. The production area has 20 studios, including the world's largest 10,000-square-meter studio and the world's only fixed underwater studio. The production area also has world-class sound, mixing and animation facilities as well as costumes, props, equipment processing plants, and a global IMAX R&D center. In addition, it has the largest film museum and film and television celebrity wax museum in China.

The Industrial Park will build the world's largest film and television exhibition center, with one 3,000-seat and one 1,000-seat large theaters, a large 2,000-person banquet hall, and several smaller theaters and conference rooms.

Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis has many projects that are unique in the world.
